Schiffbauergasse Potsdam

In Schiffbauergasse, which used to be the shipwrights’ alley and where once the first steamships were constructed, numerous cultural institutions, clubs and associations have established themselves and have extended the location for themselves and for further cultural development. By the middle of 2006, the new building of the Hans-Otto- Theatre (HOT) will be constructed here. In addition to HOT, the following have established themselves here, amongst others: the Potsdam Waschhaus, in former times a laundry for the military and now a genre-crossing house of arts and culture with a socio-cultural organisational structure; the Potsdam factory – a charitable association, which concentrates on contemporary dance and, last but not least, there is the international theatre and centre for theatrical education, called T-Werk (theatre works). An adequate trading community is also to be integrated next to it.
