Description:
Robert Schumann’s Second Symphony connects with Beethoven’s symphonic work. It is a dramatic and stirring composition that is based on a never decreasing impetus. Arnold Schönberg was also a great admirer of Beethoven. The expressiveness of his music, which is developed to its utmost, caused him to introduce a singing voice into the instrumental genre of the string quartet – as Beethoven had once concluded his Ninth Symphony with a vocal movement.
