Around Potsdam

Around Potsdam There are many ways to discover Potsdam’s environs. In the next few pages we will suggest four different excursions.

Suggestion 1
Biking along the lake Templiner See. The route leads you past the forester’s lodge and the bathing facilities in Templin and takes you all the way to Caputh. There you can decide whether you want to return to Potsdam by taking a ferry crossing the Havel River or by using one of the excellent bike trails (10 km). You could also continue the tour around the southern part of the Schwielowsee and return to Potsdam via Baumgartenbrück (ca. 25 km).

Suggestion 2
Take one of the boats belonging to Weiße Flotte Potsdam (White Fleet) to Werder and look around this island town. A boat departs for a tour of the Havel lakes four times a day and makes a stop at this interesting place.

Suggestion 3
Taking Bus 614 from the main train station, you can visit the village of Paretz, a royal summer residence dating from around 1800.

Suggestion 4
You can take a RegionalExpress (RE) train or an S-Bahn to Berlin.
