Belvedere on the Pfingstberg

The Pfingstberg has been crowned with one of the most beautiful examples of 19th century stately construction: the Belvedere. Frederick William IV built the Belvedere on the Pfingstberg between 1847 and 1863 according to his own plans and to utilise the beautiful view. Many of the architectural ideas came from his journey to Rome in 1829.

The beautiful pleasure Palace is Potsdams highest elevation. Green parks, pompous palaces, the historic centre all framed by the idyllic river landscape lying to your feet. This stunning panorama makes the view from its two towers considered to be Potsdams best view. If you look further east, you can even see the skyline of Potsdams younger and bigger sister Berlin.

The Belvedere was successfully restored and returned to its former splendour thanks to generous support by the Hermann Reemtsma Stiftung, Dr. Werner Otto, founder of the mail-order company, and other sponsors.

Thorough the year the Belvedere is used regularly for concerts and events. You can also rent the Belvedere for private events and receptions. As it is one of Potsdams most famous location for weddings the Standesamt Potsdam has a branch office here. Just the perfect romantic location to say “I do”.
