The Orphanage Museum shows the history of the foundation and its importance for the development of Potsdam from 1724 to the present day. On exhibition panels, original documents and photos, the living conditions of the children in the Großes Waisenhaus in Potsdam can be vividly experienced. In addition, the outstanding architectural significance of the late baroque orphanage square is presented. The dome is a considered landmark of Potsdam.

Today, as 290 years ago, the foundation supports disadvantaged children and young people. Its subsidiary GFB operates children's and youth homes in the state of Brandenburg.

With the museum, the foundation wants to establish a new place of learning for children and young people. Especially for young people, the topic of orphanages opens up access to history. The question of how children in Potsdam and the surrounding area grew up 150 or 200 years ago creates a connection to their own reality. Tours for school classes can be arranged.
