Schiffbauergasse Potsdam
On the banks of the lake Tiefer See on 12 hectare a mixture of innovative business and cultural diversity is to be found: Next to Hans Otto Theatre the area is characterized by an independent cultural and theater community. Listed facades as the Waschhaus (washhouse), Maschinenhalle (machine hall) or Husaren-Pferdeställe (horse stables for the Guard Hussars) are reconstructed and became new residences of art and artists.
Also “global players” as the Volkswagen Design Centre with its sophisticated modern building or the enterprises in the restored coal separator of the former gas factory affect the area not only optically. The park at the banks with pier, marina, strolling promenade at the lake and bike lanes between New Garden, Schiffbauergasse and Park Babelsberg makes the area attractive to visitors. Also several restaurants are located at Schiffbauergasse.
