Café "Poffertjes en Pannekoeken"

When the Dutch Quarter was built in 1733 to attract Dutch craftsmen to Potsdam, the "Poffertjes en Pannekoeken" did not yet exist. But it was certainly missing at that time, because in Holland Pannekoeken houses are a tradition and belong in many places to the cityscape.

Traditionally the Pannekoeken are served with butter and Stroop, a special sugar beet syrup. Here, however, there are no limits to the variety of ideas. The combination of sour cherry with vanilla ice-cream also convinces many palates.

The Café "Poffertjes en Pannekoeken" revives the tradition of the Dutch pancake house in downtown Potsdam. In the historic building of an old cigar shop in Mittelstraße, Dutch cuisine meets Potsdam cosiness. After a stroll through the Dutch quarter, past boutiques, art studios and the Johann Boumann House museum, the excursion ends with a latte macchiato and a portion of poffertjes. The many variations of savoury and sweet Pannekoeken or even a refreshing ice-cream sundae are waiting to be tasted.
